Myopia Control

Posted on 2nd December 2022

More and more young people are becoming myopic or short-sighted. New scientific methods have recently been developed in order to prevent the increase of short-sightedness in young people. Prevalence of myopia has also doubled within a century in Europe and in Australian 12 year olds it doubled between 2006 and 2011.

Myopia or short-sightedness causes reduced visual acuity (blurry vision) in the distance . It often starts in childhood and is often an inherited condition.

New spectacle lens and contact lens options are available which can help to reduce how myopic or short-sighted a young person may become. Based on a 2 year clinical trials results, MiYOSMART lenses are proven to curb myopia progression in children on average by 60%* with it's award winning DIMS (Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments) technology.
